Educational Class Trips

From one day trips gliding through the grasslands of the Everglades to several weeks exploring the Outback in Australia, field trips present a way for teachers to add depth to their curriculum by bringing life and fun to what their students are learning. When class trips are combined with a service component, students not only experience what they learn in class, but then use this knowledge to leave a positive impact on others. In turn students can gain a sense of purpose and may even gain a prolonged vision for their personal life.

Learning in New Environments

New environments can enhance what kids learn by introducing them to places and things that will engage more of their senses (touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste). Studies show that combining our senses gives us a better view of the world. Why is this important? We want students to be able to retain the information they are learning in order to promote their future development.

Bringing Service Into the Picture

Service-Learning is a proven educational teaching method that enriches the lives of students by engaging him/her with real-life issues and connecting their classroom knowledge to improving the lives of people. Research suggests that students who are engaged in positive service-learning responsibilities are inclined to:

• Demonstrate an ongoing excelling performance on tests

• Demonstrate higher levels of self-esteem

• Demonstrate an individual sense of purpose

• Demonstrate a greater connection with their community

• Demonstrate a greater interest in graduating high school and college
