Australia is a country as big your imagination extending from the majestic Great Barrier Reef, to the white sails of the Sydney Opera House. On this student tour you will explore the world heritage rainforests of Daintree or snorkel in emerald blue water along the Great Barrier Reef.  Students will also learn about unique and endemic habitats that are found nowhere else in the world.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – 2 • Fly to Australia: Opera House, Rocks and Darling Harbor

Explore Sydney, Australia’s beautiful waterfront city. Your local guide will take you to Darling Harbor, a bustling entertainment and shopping center. From here, Sydney evolved from a convict outpost to the most beautiful metropolis on the Pacific Rim.  Next, your group will explore the Sydney Opera House, majestically poised between the Harbor Bridge and the Royal Botanic Garden.

Day 3 • Manly Beach Excursion

With a storied history, a dazzling setting, and its fair share of beautiful people, Manly Beach is rightly recognized as one of the best beaches in the world. Upon arrival at this amazing beach the group will take surfing lessons. After some free time at the beach your group will take a guided hike where your students will learn about sub tropical ecology and intertidal biology.

Day 4 • Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves

On this student tour you will be transported from the center of Sydney into the heart of the enchanting Blue Mountains for a great adventure. View the Three Sisters rock formation at Katoomba and ride the Skyway. Learn about the ecology of these amazing mountains. Later you will explore the famous Jenolan caves with a professional geologist.

Day 5 • Fly to Queensland: Cairns Guided Sightseeing Tour

After bustling Sydney, the city of Cairns may feel like a sleepy little tropical village. A naturalist will lead you to the lively, slightly bohemian Esplanade, the focal point of the city. This is where the city began in 1876 as a gold and tin mining port. Wharf Street was once the main drag, at a time when the entire area was known as the Barbary Coast because of its rough, criminal element.

Day 6 and 7 • Great Barrier Reef

Spend the next two days snorkeling off the famous Green and Fitzroy Islands on the Great Barrier Reef. Home to the Earth’s largest concentration of coral and some 1,500 species of fish, the reef offers an incredible underwater experience. Along with your certified marine biologist, you will snorkel and learn about the biodiversity of corals and marine wildlife including vibrant tropical fish and loggerhead turtles.

Day 8 • Daintree National Rainforest

Along with a professional rainforest ecologist your school group will explore and learn about simbiants and biodiversity found in the rainforest of the Daintree National Park. Visit a wildlife park where you will see crocodiles, kangaroos and even have the chance to hold a Koala. You will also visit the Aboriginal people from the Kuku Yalanji tribe, who will share their indigenous heritage and knowledge of traditional bush culture.

Day 9 • Volunteer at Bat Rescue Center

Your group will be involved in aiding veterinarians with the care of injured fruit bats and sugar gliders. Students will help feed, care, and provide medical assistance to these inhabitants of North Queensland rainforest.

Day 10 • The Journey Home
