On this school trip to Kennedy Space center, students will learn about cosmology, rocketry and the history of space exploration. Inspire your next astronaut through our interactive Kennedy Space Center Adventure.  Space Explorer Journey is the ultimate program providing students with a hands-on, interdisciplinary look at science and technology through workshops and simulators.  This adventure provides unique educational experiences such as working as a team on a mock space mission in a life-sized replica of a space shuttle and training on a shuttle landing simulator similar to the ones used by NASA astronauts.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Volunteer at Migrant Children’s Center and Visit Planetarium

Spend the morning volunteering at a local RCMA center. You will be working with children from families who have been transplanted from Mexico, Honduras, and other countries to  work as seasonal laborers. Statistically, these children have the highest dropout rate among all children in the nation. Your group  will spend time interacting with the children as well as helping with light construction, painting, planting flowers, or a variety of other projects that aid this community migrant center. After lunch the group will explore the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Here the students will learn about some of the many different ecosystems found on the 140,000 acre refuge through fun activities like a scavenger hunt! Also the group will partake in an environmental education project. After dinner the group will head to the campus of Eastern Florida State College. Here the group will visit their planetarium for an educational program.

Day 2 – Kennedy Space Center

Your school visit to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex includes the Salute to Science Program, the Shuttle Launch Experience, two IMAX films, Apollo/Saturn V Center, briefing with an astronaut, and a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame. The tour includes a stop at the Atlantis exhibit. After dinner the group will head outside to discuss astronomy.
