On this school trip to New York City, students will learn about New York City’s culture while serving local communities in need.  New York City has a an amazing energy with its lights, venues and electric atmosphere. It has galleries, shows, glitz and glam and an array of colors. You can cross continents with the mere swipe of a MetroCard, visiting colorful neighborhoods that contain an astonishing variety of cultures and ethnicities (particularly in Queens). The people, the food, the art: NYC has many virtues, which is why so many of us can’t imagine living anywhere else.ce and promote global conservation.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in New York City

Arrive into New York City. Meet your AE tour director at the airport and then transfer to your hotel and check in. Spend the afternoon enjoying walking through Central Park, down Park Avenue where will see the Apple store, FAO Schwarz, Tiffany’s, and Trump Tower. Stop in and visit St Patrick’s Cathedral where you will have time to wandering through this gorgeous church. Continue on towards Rockefeller Center where you will have time to explore the area viewing the famous skating rink (a café seating area in the summer), NBC studios, Radio City Music Hall, and more. From here you will make your way towards Time Square for dinner and leisure time. Return to the hotel for a time of reflection. (All that is planned for the day is dependent on when the flight arrives)

Day 2 – Serve at World Vision or The Bowery

Your school group could be working with any numerous organizations like World Vision or the Bowery Mission. All will be determined by availability. After spending most of the day serving, you will enjoy a leisure walking tour of Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, NY Public Library, and continue towards Macy’s and Herald Square. Before dinner, you will visit the Empire State Building. Here you will have the opportunity to see incredible views of the city from the 86th floor.

 Day 3 – Service Project In the Day and a Broadway Show at Night

Spend the day serving at a local organization. Travel to West Village and wander through this beautiful neighborhood, which is home to NYU, the scene for numerous movies and TV shows and lots of wonderful shops and restaurants. After an early dinner the group will enjoy a Broadway Show.

Day 4 – Tour the City

Take the subway downtown to Battery Park. Once you have arrived, you will board a ferry to take you past the Statue of Library to Ellis Island. Spend time in this incredibly fascinating museum learning about all those who have immigrated to our country. Return to the city and begin a walking tour.  You will visit Trinity Church, walk down Wall Street and view both the NYSE and Federal Hall. Continue towards the 9/11 Memorial and Freedom Tower. Before visiting the area, you will have the chance to have lunch. Some of the best food trucks are here and you will see lots of New Yorkers all enjoying lunch in the surrounding areas outside on break from work. After lunch, you will spend time at the memorial site as well as visit the memorial museum. Also make a stop at St Paul’s Church before traveling to Chinatown. Chinatown is an experience! You’ll have time to wander around the area as well as visit Little Italy. The rest of the afternoon will be open to do as you like. Maybe you’d like to go return to Time Square or visit one of the many museums in the city.

 Day 5 – Head Home

After shopping in the morning your group will head home.
