The Silicon Valley experience is your chance to see real business in action—in a place that has become home to some of the world’s largest corporations. Learn about Fortune 1000 companies, software giants, high-tech start-ups, and more.  The mission of the Appleseed  Entrepreneurial Leadership Program is to support educational, research, and outreach programs, that promote entrepreneurial activity in the lives of young students. Along with the social media adventure, students will also be able to volunteer and make a positive impact by serving at the Feed America Center in San Francisco.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 • Fly to San Francisco

Begin your school tour by flying into San Francisco. After arrival, you may have time to tour the famous Wharf area. Later that evening  you will have reflections and dinner.

Day 2 • Visit Apple, Facebook and Google Headquarters

After breakfast your group will head out on a guided tour of some the tech giants in California. Your guide will discuss the foundations of these organizations and the entrepreneurial ideas that started these companies. You will tour the outside of Apple, Facebook, and Google Headquarters.  (Please be aware – the group is not allowed to enter buildings). After lunch, you will head to San Jose and explore the Tech Museum which studies the history of computers and media in Silicon Valley. Later in the day you will have an idea sharing program that promotes creativity that relates to Social Media.

Day 3 • Twitter and Stanford University

Today you will visit the San Francisco Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Leadership Center. Here students will learn how to use business and social media for greater good.  After your visit, you will have a guided tour of Stanford University. Explore the campus with your guide and learn about Stanford’s rich history, distinctive architecture, and notable landmarks. Stanford was at the heart of the development of Silicon Valley. Students will visit the IT department where many ideas for tech development were started.

Day 4 • Golden Gate, Alcatraz, and Feed America

This morning you will head out to visit Alcatraz.  After, grab a sack lunch and head out to visit the Golden Gate Bridge where you will see spectacular views of this historical landmark. You will also hike part of the bridge and see some of the amazing views of the San Francisco Bay.  After your bridge walk, you will volunteer at the Feed America Center.  Here your group will sort food, help with distribution, and clean fruits and vegetables.  Later you will have dinner followed by a time of reflection.

Day 5 • Head Home

After a visit to Half Moon Bay, you will head home.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Qualified trip leader – Accompanying each expedition is a diverse team of experts from naturalists to regional specialists who will share their knowledge and insights on the wildlife, landscapes and local culture. Your guide is with the group 24/7 and also staying with you at the same hotel
